The Mabel Mercer Basis celebrated the lifetime of pianist, singer, and cabaret artist supreme Larry Woodard yesterday on the Laurie Beechman Theatre on forty second Avenue in New York Metropolis.
A fond farewell to Maestro Woodard (February 25, 1949-June 28, 2023) was attended by lots of the mates and artists whose lives he touched.
Broadly identified for his mastery of a wide range of musical kinds and disciplines, Woodard was hailed by the New York Instances as, “ a first-rate performer of all musical classes …who strikes simply between the worlds of classical music and cabaret, an inventive inheritor of Bobby Brief however with classical leanings.”
The afternoon hosted by KT Sullivan and made doable by Mary & Frank Skillern featured remembrances and performances by Natalie Douglas, Invoice Zeffiro, Eric Comstock, Elaine Robinson, Jeff Harnar, Valerie Lemon, Ron Raines, Lauren Flanagan, Craig Rubanao, Jon Weber, KT, and movie clips from a documentary of Mr. Woodard’s life.
The Laurie Beechman Theatre was flooded with fond recollections of a person whose life was music and whose reminiscence lingers on.
