Armed with a tide map and a mirrorless digital digital camera, Sanchez-Baranda has been documenting the creatures of the Californian coast with compulsive repetition for over decade. Ready for the ocean’s ebb to disclose the anemone of their liminal, intertidal habitats, Sanchez-Baranda trains his lens on his topics so carefully that they turn out to be abstracted — permitting for a full sensory absorption that transcends organic classification and virtually defies clarification.
